Treatment guide

Restorative neurostimulation

A targeted approach for selected patients with chronic mechanical low back pain and impaired muscle control.

What the treatment does

Restorative neurostimulation is designed to activate muscles involved in lumbar stability. It differs from stimulation intended primarily to change pain signaling.

Who may be considered

Selected patients with chronic mechanical low back pain and appropriate evidence of lumbar muscle dysfunction may be evaluated. An implant is not suitable for all back pain.

Expectations and risks

Improvement is usually assessed over time alongside rehabilitation and regular use. Risks include infection, bleeding, discomfort, lead or device problems, and failure to improve.

Questions to ask at your visit

  • Which pain source is this treatment intended to address?
  • What are the alternatives in my case?
  • What improvement should we measure, and when?
  • What restrictions and follow-up will I need?
This guide is general education. Eligibility, technique, and recovery depend on your individual circumstances.
